Meet the Team

Cathy Sheppard

Director and Facilitator

Cathy Sheppard has spent around 30 years in education in many different forms, from secondary teaching to early childhood, from New Zealand to Japan. 20 years in Playcentre included years supporting 6 diverse centres, and delivering SELO 1 & 3 Professional Development programmes to centres across the country, developing leadership and centres to get better outcomes for tamariki and whanau. She is passionate about teaching and learning, wanting the best outcomes for tamariki and whanau.

Cathy loves working with teaching teams and leadership to get better results. Helping people understand each other better – those different ways of working and communicating – transform the way teachers teach and work with each other. Learning these skills earlier would have made a huge difference in her own teaching from the beginning, and make a huge difference in growing leadership and teams in early childhood centres and schools. A good team can do so much more than the sum of the individuals on their own, and it’s so much more fun to be a part of!

Cathy is also the founder of BSI People Skills Ltd, empowering people, leaders and teams, transforming organisations to create happy healthy teams and workplace cultures. BSI People Skills has a contract with the Ministry of Education as a provider of both the Incredible Years Teacher programme and Autism Teacher programme in Wellington, and is delivering this as BSI Teacher Skills.
